Raleigh Chill - any good ?

1990 UK spec Chill had striaght taper gauge forks. My friend had one BITD.

If that pic is the bike it is a Chill.

We actually only got the Chill and Heat in the UK in 1990 and Chill was DX, Heat was XT. Heat in that catalogue was 500LX

Really rather nice IMO. As to size, deduct 2" from whatever "size" trad road frame you'd ride gives you near enough right size for a horizontal top tube "mtb" from the same era. So I very much doubt that a 21" would be too BIG for you.

As to value....aside from the obvious (whatever someone will pay) at a guess probably do max 140 on th' 'bay. So if avoiding hassle and fees, 120 should buy it private.

Can you just clarify, if possible, that this bike is a regular size, being a 21" with horizontal top tube ? It's just that most Raleigh MTBs from that time looked much smaller, with sloping top tubes. It makes this 'Chill' look like an XL sized MTB frame, i.e. one that's so big, the top tube isn't sloping any more.

If it was a 1985 Dawes, then fair enough, but on a 1990 Raleigh USA, it just looks wrong...maybe I'm just forgetting what older MTBs look like...

Well, I'm a 23" on the road, so that would follow.

Thanks for clarifying it's a '90 chill - however, the reflectors really do make it look like a '91 Obsession....I'll see what the seller replies with...
