Recently took over ownership of this little beauty ..... well it is if your a Raleigh fan.

1987 Raleigh Centenary Number 17 of 200.

These were built to mark 100 years of Raleigh and were given to 5 star dealerships, depending which stories you believe they either made 100 followed by another 100 when dealers kicked up they had missed out on the 1st run or they just did 200.
Some say they are 24 or 23k gold plated, personally I don't believe that as 1. there is nothing on the paper work that says so and 2. it peals of like clear coat when damaged.

Any how its a lovely bit of history and bling, mine is No17 and has all its paper work and originally came from Perth with this being its 1st time south ever. Nothing has ever been replaced on it. The saddle and bars look black but in day light are a lovely chocolate brown. Still has original tyres.

I'll get some more pictures when I can get it out side.

Stunning Bike, looking forward to seeing more photos.

I'll put my tin hat on, but what's the point of a bike hanging off a wall? Surely it should be ridden.

Re:

All my bikes apart from this and one other are ridden.

This one thou is more of a collectors item / display item / bit of history to me. It's never been ridden in its life and has all its original parts Inc the tyes so it could never be ridden on them.

If it had already been used then I would but as it hasn't I'm not either.

Nice piece of history there :). I always wondered if the demo frame touted around by the reps was good plated and the consumer items finished in cromovelato...

Yes personally I think its the latter and the same as they used on the earlier Burners.

Looking very nice Maca, a bit of history hanging on the wall.
I am usually one of the bikes should be ridden and not hung on walls hidden away but occasionally there is a machine that goes against that. This is one.
Thanks for sharing :)
