Ral codes for Klein team colours...or linears..

If you are really concerned about getting an exact color match, it's best to go into the shop and look at paint chip samples in their books. Monitors vary too much and unless they are calibrated it varies from computer to computer depending on the video card, monitor condition, type, etc. If you're asking the questions you are, your monitor ain't calibrated :D

If you aren't too concerned about exact match, close enough.

One other thing to remember, is that many of the Klein colors were flourescent ones. The magenta and green in that paint job were flourescent. That means that even as the sun went down, their was still enough UV in the natural light that the colors "glowed". I don't know if these colors you've chosen will do that or not. If I was doing what you're doing, I would probably just go into the shop and talk to them and tell them what you want. What I have found with such shops, is they are usually quite helpful and are experts in the paints. They know, I didn't/don't.

Good points.

Hate to be a stick in the mud but I dont think its possible ever creating an original klein respray and getting it looking "right".

I'd go for a single colour (Id go white or black!) and get some decals made by Gil and then get the frame a nice clearcoat to give it a great gloss and to seal the decals in.

My opinion but there you go.

to my mind, the best looking klein ever was the 20th anniversary pulse that they did - get that scheme.

THAT paint on THAT frame would be soooooo wrong. it's only "right" on a 1995 frame...

that one is a non-Klein repaint, not too bad i'd say. i will check with the owner what paint they have used

That isnt too bad but leg decals are incorrect tho? Not a bad effort!

I think a linear fade would be a right bugger to get right.

the leg decals were copied from the very first prototype Attitude, owner did not have another main (sp?) one back then

linear fades are do-able too. i have seen a repainted Moonrise fork and it did look very very close to the original.

Actually, that white stem doesn't look right to me, IMHO, of course. Too jaring a difference when everything else fades into the other. Had you added a green bit to the bottom that faded into white, that would look interesting. I find the fork leg decals to look kind of obnoxious, a little to big for my tastes. I know that it's original but who says you have to go completely for original. I repainted a Klein and their was no way I was going to put Klein decals on. Why pay to advertise for others. To me, better to have no decals or better yet, make your own. These decals pictured were made from a font that I designed.

I know that others will say for authenticity but to me, once you've stripped the paint, authenticity is out the window anyways. IMHO, of course. Same goes for a linear fade, who says you have to do it exactly like Klein. TTake it an inspiration but also be creative. Perhaps you could make it such tht people will say, "Thats a Klein" but still have it be a one-of-a-kind bike.

I realize that my posting of the decals might show a reason not to be creative :-)

Thanks guys...
That replica looks great to me!
Argos tell me that the team colours were fluro which are not made anymore? But as I say the ones carsten has shown us look good to me whether they are fluro or not is another question..
I must confess though Ive never seen a team colour Klein in the flesh!
I have thought of maybe a pearl white or black to but odviously I'd rather have a team or a horizon..the year of mine is 1993 as carsten knows but did they do the team colours in 1993?
BTW argos said they can do the linear fade but again I need a sample for them to work from...
