That's interesting to know they all worked well together. I'll have a look on the price for this one and compare... An xtr one would be nice but it's a bit out of my price range!

I had some Prodigy DH cranks which were really good but the ISIS BB's were useless...in fact useless is probably being kind. I worked in a shop at the tine and we just had a big box of them under the counter which was used for warranty replacements when customer BB's inevitably failed.

You should be able to get a good HTII set of Race Face cranks for that kind of money. I picked up a set of Atlas AM cranks for £40 and an XTR bb from Germany for £17.

Not heard a single good review yet about the ISIS BB.

Definitely decided to go down the hollow tech route, so my eyes are now peeled for a suitable Raceface crank to match!

Good lad - they were genuinely hopeless.

Some people have issues with HTII's but mine have generally lasted really well. Just avoid the Deore BB's because in my experience they're not up to much (the last one died after three wet rides!). XT, Saint and XTR have all lasted me really well and are cheap enough from the likes of Rose and Bike Discount in Germany (my current XTR BB was £17 plus postage).

I think the early HTII BB's werent very long lasting but that was resolved with the second generation of HTII cranks (770 XT, SLX etc). Mine seem to last well on and off road. My Sora/Tiagra (probaly the same quality as deore) cheapo one has done 3500 miles on a commuter in all weathers without being cleaned that often and it has no play and feels smooth. It does click though, but all commuter bikes do that for some reason, including all the old square taper ones I've ridden over the years.

I have a Race Face Prodigy isis crank on my single speed and use the Superstar isis BB. They say it overcomes the small bearing issue by using the shell and axel as bearing races meaning they can fit the same size ball bearings as a square taper. They cost £30 and so far mine has been great, although it's still fairly early days.

My HTII's have generally been good (with the exception of the Deore one), even the Race Face ones that I've had and most people thought they were rubbish. I think some of the issues with HTII is the fact that people over preload the bearings.

That Superstar BB looks like it may actually solve the issue - why Race Face, FSA and Truvativ didn't do that in the first place I'll never know. Downside is that its a fair chunk more expensive that a HTII but would be a great way to kepe using a posh ISIS crank like a Turbine.
