It's a '95 Saracen Terratrax, double butted Tange f&f which I picked up with a generous bag of (well used but clearly loved) bits recently on the forum from clockworkgazz... everything's had a clean and so far we have wheels from LGF alongside original bars, stem (found a push in cap), bar ends as supplied (Ritchey), Saracen saddle, Kalloy post & clamp. I love my old Saracens and, while it's the pretty much the same s/tube & t/tube size as my Kili, it feels much more compact. Contender for simple budget build, all silver components and 1 x 7 or s/speed - with mismatched but decent half-DX cranks from elpedro666 either way (polished up even nicer).

Trouble's brewed in the rear canti pipe, so v-brakes may be coming next (m600)... I've refurbished the original headset, pedals and rear mech, and grabbed some DMR Zip grips and other bits from the shed, with maybe a touch of... er... slicks?? Sugino 42 ring?

I've got a similar Saracen frame, although mine never had any decals so I've never been sure of the year. I've gone for 1993 due to the dropouts.

Anyway, I had considered running it as a 7 or 8spd with V-brakes. But I ended up carefully hacking off the little redundant canti pipe and drilling out the canti stop so that I could run a V-brake and still have enough stops for both front and rear mechs.

You will have seen it Al in it's full white powder-coated glory along with those white bars you gave me. It's here for those of you who haven't been so lucky.
I use mine as a winter hack bike with fairly modern (2005) Deore kit and full mud guards. It's on the heavy side but it's very comfortable, handles nicely and keeps me clean and dry on the muddy back lanes.

Here's me waffling on again... I reckon you should 7 or 8spd your race rat though.
