Quill stem slightly loose in steerer tube

I changed frame and forks recently

I am finding the forks in the new frame seem to have a slightly larger internal diameter, and the quill seems to have some play around it.

Anyone come across this?

Is it an imperial fork with metric quill stem?

All Italian ISO metric

Try a "coke can" shim it's worked for me in the past.

That's odd, I've swapped over dozens of quill stems for one inch threaded steerer's and never had a very loose one that made me think it would be dangerous. Have you tried a different stem to check?
