Quick shim question

31.7 seattube (thanks giant!)

31.6 Seatpost seems ok.

If I used a 31.8 - 27.2 shim, as it closes in on itself, that would work also or am I being naive?

It is a nice round tube, on a giant OCR road bike. They came, as standard, with a shim from 31.7 to 27.2 but I have picked up a bike without this. Mine instead has a 31.6 seatpost is and it seems fine, just wondering in case I have any issues at a later date really.
