bearing in mind i don't usually sell stuff on ebay and since i last did the rules have changed a fair bit with regards to feedback etc,

what is the general protocol regarding when to leave feedback?

for example, my lemon roadwork frameset has just sold, he paid straight away, do i now leave feedback regarding his quick payment? or wait until he has received the frame and is happy and then return the feedback after he has left his?

what do you guys do?

:)

ok fair enough, leave him feedback after he leaves me feedback

the reason i asked was because i am leaving him feedback based on one thing, a payment, which he has done, and very quickly, i just wondered if that was how it was done.

That should be how it's done. Auctions are a contract, and he's fulfilled his part of it by paying you promptly. Apparently feedback ransom is de rigeur these days, though.

yeah, that's how i see it too. although i can understand not leaving feedback till you know the buyer is happy with the item but then if i left good feedback and then they were not happy with the item i would be a bit pissed off. i suppose the only thing you can do is be very honest about everything, but then that's the idea isn't it!

problem with any internet sale, the as**ole factor!!

Hi. If I could clear this up as the person who has just bought the Lemon...

As long as you have been honest, (and I very much believe you have),
I will leave you glowing feedback. As a person with over a thousand positive feedbacks at 100% you can trust me on this.

Then do what you like... I would prefer if you left me a positive but should you feel inclined to not then that is up to you. No ransom demands... No A***hole factor!

I look forward to receiving the frame, building a stunning bike, and being a happy member of this forum.

Now to look for a suitably amusing avatar...

hello! :D for the record, and i am sure you have realised this, i wasn't inferring you were one of the said bumholes! it was more case of just not knowing the ebay selling system very well as i rarely use it. i tend to buy more than sell! too much to be honest.

i was about to leave you positive feedback but thought i ought to check what the protocol for it was, asking the question on this forum always gets a quicker response than elsewhere.

the general consensus seems to be that people selling leave feedback after the buyer has left their feedback, i don't actually feel this is correct. you paid, very quickly, so you have done your part, it's now up to me to sort my end out and hopefully receive good feedback in return. that makes sense to me but it seems that is not what happens

is it more just a private buyer/seller thing? as when i buy from ebay and it's a shop or company they seem to almost by automation leave positive feedback within seconds of paying for the item?

quite strange really

Hi Jonnyboy.

As a general rule, the seller leaves feedback after the buyer.

Some people do it the other way round. Either way is perfectly acceptable.

Shops and Powersellers do often have automated feedback systems that will throw out a positive when they detect one has been left. All very clever but not very personal!

Knackered today. Couldn't sleep as thinking too much about components for the lemon. How sad!
