Quality of 'Modern' Syncros

Just a quick Q - was choosing some new (not NOS, sorry) bits for my bike and was keen to keep the theme simple with a Syncros ahead stem to match some older Syncros bits I wanted to keep. LBS advised against it, claiming that some new Syncros bits were of poorer quality than my mid-90s stuff and that I should steer clear of their stems.

This was of course as I was winning an ebay auction for a new Syncros stem!

Any thoughts? Was he talking tosh?

they are not as end of the market as they were , but still good enough .
