Q/R rear axles?

In the process of refurbing a wheel that uses sealed bearings i want to take the chance to swop out the old solid axle for a Q/R one. However.. i see the old bolt has polished collars and shoulders to support/position the inside face of the bearing cartridge. The replacement bolts i'm seeing for other don't have that so are they important for proper running, or are well positioned/tightened locknuts good enough?

Here we go..

The hub is just hollow with outer rebates for the bearing carts, wich sit to a flush outer finish. (so outer locknut would keep it tight to rebate)

It's from a Teny 6 leaf mag alloy rim, so integral hum. The middle part of that spindle is smooth and just sits inside the hub .. with plenty of clearance. The ends past the polished collars are obviously threaded. If i used a standard axle i suppose i would be having threaded face actually sitting on the inner bearing.

Given up on it for now and refitted the bolt shown.. LBS's had no idea where i might get one separate from a new wheelset either.. just have to make sure i run the bike chain through the back wheel from now on!
