Psyched and Mad about this 1995 Trek 6500zx

How can you not love this frame? It's a medium size 16.5" and it weighs about 1690gr. Not too bad I'd say, even though not the lightest.

However, do you see the problem? White paint splattered all over it!

I've tried:
- Orange degreaser,
- Medical alcohol
- Paint thinner (acetone)

I took it easy with the acetone, but no success. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

There was a sticker over "6500" and you can see how it preserved the original paint.

Degraded lacquer possibly :?

Some of it though looks like its part of the finish, metallic paint type thing

Just be careful with it, don't rub too hard in an area.
Just had to remove spots of white paint from a frame myself (aluminium painted), it had obviously been sat around uncovered whilst someone painted a ceiling above it, or something :roll:

Check it's not actually supposed to have those spots on it first though

I agree. You can see the where the sticker was - there's no white spots at all.

t-cut is a fine polish with extras to breakdown the unwanted bit. It takes off a teeny tiny micro layer each pass

so any 'colour' will do.

Should be fine, but try it on a small area first, preferably somewhere not too noticeable if it does cause a problem. I've used metal polish, like Brasso, to buff out scratches on paintwork before and it works well.
