Good people of retrobike, I come to you seeking advice. Again

I have been sucessful in my ballot application to get a spot on the charity ride in the title:

http://www.prudentialridelondon.co.uk/P ... ey_100.htm

The problem is that the charities that are involved want minimum donations of between £500-750 each and I am genuinely worried that I wont reach that much and (a) I cant afford to sub the difference if I am a few hundred short and (b) I dont want to loose my place. The Saracen will be putting in a retro mtb face amidst all the modern road bikes!!

Need any advice (or donations, lol!) You can think of please.

For those interested, I want to ideally ride for the Alzheimers Society in memory of my gramp, they want £750...

Thank you in advance...

Dan :P

ok, 1st off, set up a justgiving page. Then pimp it like mad, on here, on facebook, on twitter etc. Annoy all your colleagues, friends and family for money. It won't be easy. See if your company will match what you raise. Lots do. Get everyone to giftaid it, so the charity can claim the tax back. I managed to raise £300 just by shaving my head a few years ago. See how it goes with your sponsorship. If it looks as though you've got no chance, organise a night out, with a raffle etc, charge people to come on it. Lots more you could do, but that should be enough.

Turns out as I got a place in the ballot I only need to raise what I can, not a set minimum, which takes all the pressure off, phew! I will still pimp out the cause as much as possible and do a few raffle type bits at work to raise as much as possible.

Thanks for the advice Tim, keep punching those Mondeo's

Even though you don't have a minimum, do everything Tim said. Ill pop a rennet in.
Very kind of you sir, much obliged, though I have no idea what a rennet is! I have set up the justgiving gubbins but need to pay up to do the actual ride (must do that tonigh *makes note on back of hand*) and we are good to go aside from working on my fitness.

Once I have set it up, I will be soliciting donations from every possible angle! Doing it with a chap from my office. Though we are riding for different charities, we are going to be an unofficial team called the Baldy Bikers
