Sorry I don't contribute to this great forum no more, I've got health issues and no longer go out cycling which is a crying shame as I really do miss my cycling and riding all my bikes, sadly my back stops me, unable to get out the saddle or press down hard on the pedals, pain is something I can't deal with.
I do look in on the forum from time to time, but don't post as I've nothing to contribute now I'm not cycling
To keep me from cracking up I make models these days, I've had a certain kit for a long time now, just doing a bit at a time, today I've finally finished it.
I bet there's no end of you who know of the 1/9th scale Protar bike kits but rarely see them built up, I've really tried my hardest to make it look lovely, this has involved a lot of modifications to the frame - Filling holes here & there and doing away with the oversized clamp on parts and making braze on's for the brake cable stops - Also reshaping the front fork crown to a Cinelli slopped crown look - Reprofiled the handlebar stem & seat post - Making the components more to scale by reducing the plastic thickness - Also the spokes are way too thick and around the hubs the plastic is solid in the spokes, with care I removed all the waste plastic - Spent hours reducing the thickness of the spokes until they was ready to snap on me - The miniature Campagnolo Super Record groupset looks much better too, brake & gear cables changed with much thinner wire - The rubber horrible chain has been replaced by the optional plastic chain which is much more accurate but takes some work to fit over the front chainwheel & rear sprocket on the freewheel - Painting the tyres was a nightmare, they are all black so with a steady hand I painted a tanwall side edge, what a job to do that neatly - The rims are in metallic grey with the white MAVIC logo's on the rims, see if you can spot them, nice touch ?
Enjoy the nice model guys, I think it's super super cool
