PROjeKt FunK PRO Comp

Nice.......I love original race photos showing people with 80's hair staring at your bike......halcyon days indeed!.....thanks for sharing and good luck with the build!....

Cheers for all your comments so far.

The later Funks had a welded cable stop on the seat tube for the front mech, then the bare cable would run down round the pulley back up to the normal clamp on a bottom pull mech, an advance in design to my early one, you can just make out the old way on my pic with the bike upside-down.

As for Funk going bankrupt, no idea, that happened after I lost contact.

I will update, that's part of the fun, sharing.

From what I can remember; Funk didn't do some process to the stanchions on the Funk sus forks and that caused them to snap!! They didn't recall the forks and somebody sued them, which caused the bankruptcy.

Wondered if anyone would spot them, still got those to, with the box and receipt!, completely worn to death and sole disintegrating like sand. Weirdo, am I a hoarder? I don't keep everything, honest, but the iconic Jordans, well, you gota "do the right thing!"

Mild update, went to start the initial build and stalled at the first bit, all this time and I didn't realise that I didn't have the fork cup piece of the headset. This is a real blow as this Campag headset was originally mine from way back. It was given back to me 2 and a half years ago by a friend who had ended up with it because my mate Mark who I sold the Funk to such along time ago gave it to him.

So for now I have a really cheap get the forks on set until I get a replacement Campy one, located one now.

Heres the pics of most of the parts, enjoy!

The metallic grey Funk, sorry about poor photo quality, is the one that Adrian and Virgini Medows lent to me to ride and race on in 1990. I will go into more detail at a later date about how that came about but I was excited out of my skin when this turned up at my house!, I felt like I had won the Pools! I was 16 years old then and someone had lent me a £2k mountain bike to use as I wished, amazing! It had Suntour XC Pro on it which really suited the bike.

Going to be nice! I used to own a tank green funk which had originally been sprayed by Dream Machine to look like a packet of smarties. I'll have to dig some photos out.
