PROjeKt FunK PRO Comp

OK, now when I first raced this I went wide on one particular bend through a pile of deep leaves which where hiding a small tree stump, the results can be seen in the early pics half way down page one. Part of the damage was a bent RM, bent drop-out and stripped mech thread. The frame was corrected and a helicoil fitted, unfortunately not the same as the original thread so Dad got a bolt made to fit the new Campag mech and the helicoil thread, all good.

I still have that bolt as it went with the frame and came back to me, as explained earlier in the thread. I have tried fitting it the the mech I have now, Euclid, but it is too short and the circlip recess doesn't protrude enough to fit the clip. Borrowed the Centaur RM off the Attitude and it doesn't fit that either so I am going to have to get one made to measure, RM fit on hold for now.

Fitted the Record OR cantis, they are really lovely, almost new, few marks but pads minty condition.

NOS Centaur brake levers and NOS thumbshifters are out and I have attempted to fit the special shifter mounts, the ones shown earlier in thread. The original mounting bolt, shifter to its clamp, has too big a head so I have used some bolts which are very similar to the XT thumb clamp bolts, I have some of these available for sale if anyone needs some. As for fitting to the levers, they slot into a hole on the brake lever but there is no way of securing them. The brake lever clamp bolt itself would contact the shifter mount bar if the bolt was longer as ther is a hole right through but then it would stop against the mount bar which would mean it wouldn't clamp the brake lever to the handle bars. The only solution I can see is to drill and tap a thread in the lever, through the raised flat section that can be seen underneath and then fit a grub screw, going to put the question up in chat to ask if anyone has any knowledge on this.

Right picture time.

Just been out and picked up some grub screws so that should do the job on the brake levers so I can mount the shifter mount bars to them.

Also have another Campag Centaur crank coming with a BB and two different sized axles hoping one will be a better shorter length for what I need.

I noticed earlier in the old pics, half way down page 1, that I can see that I didn't cut down the seat QR and just left the soft plastic cover on the exposed thread, this has more reference to the dilemma i was having with the Attitude here!, see link below.

Small update, green Flite is sold, grey one is going on something else so put a black one on, will probably end up with it staying like it, or though I have just remebered I have a re-issue new Rolls somewhere and I am sure thats what I had on it first time round, will see.

Wheels on too, Campag Thorr rims by the way Ant, I will polish the rims whilst the frame is at paint in the future. Don't forget the frame will be bright green eventually and probably going for amber wall tyres, the green like new Wildgrippers will be up for sale, I think they will be too much distraction and not retro enough for what I want.

Few pics.

Small update on this slow burner, having changed jobs in November I now have even less time but I will get there in the end!

Rear mech bolt has been made for me, got that some weeks ago now so I should be able to get the RM on.

Have also got another NOS white Porc so the tyres will be just like I had BITD!, and no, I won't be riding them in the mud, they cost me more than a set of tyres for my old BMW!
