Project 2 question

i have just picked up a pair of p2s really cheep as they ase dameged. the seam round the bottom of the fork where the drop out joins is comming appart, there is a gap of about 1/2 mm that a can just get my nail in.
can this be repaired? how are they made in the first place are they brazzed? i know a few welders so im going to ask about but i was wondering what you guys know? if it was repaired would it be strong still?

In their current state, they sound utterly knackered.
So don't ride them or anything.

But they should be fix-able. They're quite thick tubing, compared to other tubes in a MTB frame, or especially road bikes.

If the current crack is bad enough to have allowed the dropout to move, then make sure your welder mate uses a front hub or something else to re-align them before and during welding.

But if they're particularly bad, it might be cheaper and safer to get a used pair from somebody on here.

im not planing on riding them. im still waiting for some more to come around but my mates dad makes microlights out if titanium so im going to let him have a go at them, mabey i can talk him in to making a pair out of ti

The last genuine Ti pair went for about a squillion bucks.
