I will officially note your dibs lads, give me a chance to put the beast thru it's paces, coz either the 656 or the beast has to go- too many bikes and a wife causing me grief

Will also have to lube up the chubbies as that squeak is going to bug me :? Off to K2 riders forum to get some info on theses forks.

You can loosen the triple clamp screws and adjust the ride height of the front end. I think you can raise the fork tube a good 18 mm before getting tire rub. The way to check tire rub is to remove the top preload screws, and remove the spring. Check for any contact with down tube. Then take a look at the stem, to see if you want more rise, and a bit shorter.

Also you might want your sag on rear to be as much as 25%, but do not let the shock get too loose to buckle the shaft/strut on a jump.
At 5"11", I did not have to change a thing, except the saddle, and rear tire, which was SOOOOO heavy to pedal.

Cheers Shovelon,

Thanks for your very helpfull comments I have now re-greased the chubbies and you are right they are now very smooth. Your instructions were very simple to follow. One question though, Where can you buy an extended 8 mm allan? to tighten the inside bolt of th bottom fork? The bolt under the fork just spins when you tighten it and I know from the instruction manual (from k2 website) that I need this long allan key to make it tight.

Is it just as well to take it to the LBS?

Anyway off to Carron valley to see how it fairs. Friend will be on a singlespeed fully rigid on-one, bit of a contract of rides

I used the long end of standard key. Regarding the spinning cartridge shaft, you need to adjust the preload on that side, push down the the leg, and tighten that bolt. It will seat itself and lock. Then you could loosen, and repeat on the other side if needed.

Good Luck,
Terry
