what tools/techniques did you use to get that polished finish?

Paint stripper and a wire brush to get most of the paint off (and its tough stuff- never known anything like it) dremel and stripper in nooks and crannies (watch yer eyes  )
Then fine grade wet n dry on any scratches- and there were a few, followed by Autosol on fine-ish wire wool with lots of elbow grease. Should take about 4-5 hours start to finish. Give it a good coating of quality wax arterwards and it should stay good for a month or so before having to do it all again
