hmmm. I think it's a bit (a lot) disrespectful to write him off as being in denial, or judging what he can or cannot do. I think the desire to ride a "normal" bike again shows a tremendous strength of character, in the face of a situation where a lot of people would simply give up. I always remember reading 'Of Life And Limb', by Jamie Andrew - a mountaineer who ended up a quadruple amputatee after severe frostbite in the Alps, but went on to climb Kilimanjaro amongst others. If he had written a blog about that ambition following his operations, some people might have accused him of being in denial, instead of giving him credit for getting on with life and not to letting circumstances get the better him.
