Powder coat questions .

As I understand it ,you cannot paint over it ?
Reason for asking is that I would like to add some colour bands to a frame that I have had powder coated .{ PC used to keep costs down.}

Has anyone here done this ? If so what type of paint did you use. Or do I use S A vinyl transfers which might look a bit naff . {A thin vinyl might do the trick how ever }

Any thoughts, ideas please .

Re:

You can paint over powder coat, you need to remove the top layer which is too 'slippery' for the paint to adhere to, sand down gently to get a 'rough' surface, be careful you don't go right through as it is quite soft, you can apply primer before top coat if you want, this be a good test of adherence before applying the top coat. Normal Rattle can paint works fine.

Interesting tip , thank you . Trouble is I am after adding bands of white and trying to do a small area might cause more hassle than is worth, knowing how keggy - I can be :facepalm:

Re:

Couldn't find an adequate translation for 'keggy' :D

I think really thin white vinyl is the answer.
