The aspect of 'boing!' or not is really down to dampening. The set up on it works in a similar way to most rear suspension.

Except for the fact that most softtails with this type of tiny shock (be it spring or bumper) rely on the fixed seat-stays for some of the suspension action and support. Most full suspension bikes rely on a large shock for damping abilities and hefty support of the rear end. This bike is sort of neither arthur nor martha.
It's a bit like the direct opposite of the Trek STP that took the zero pivot approach of the softtail and added it to the large diameter, fully damped shock of a FS bike. This one takes the tiny bumper of the soft tail and adds it to the complexity of a FS chassis!

As I said in my early post, certainly can't knock it for £25.

I'd say that that makes it a Taiwanese frame made for the international market. If it was a Whyte or UK or Euro frame then they would have used a Mac Strut as the specialized patent doesn't cover Euro bikes (that's why Boardman bikes have proper 4 bar suspension. Or at a push it could be a US one, but the rear 'shock' doesn't suggest that.

I would have said for the US market as thats the only market where the silly patents apply.
