Possibly stupid crank extraction and BB question.

First off, apologies if this is in the wrong section, I'm still finding my way around, feel free to move this if it's in the wrong section.

So I just bought an old Orange Clockwork and I'm planning on stripping it down and rebuilding it.

Problem is, I've only ever worked on modern bikes, and this "retro" stuff is all a bit foreign to me

Can someone let me know what tools I need to extract the crank and BB? Links would be good too.

Have checked Parktools site, but can't find anything that matches up with what I have.

Oh, cranks are 1994 Shimano LX (TS21) if that helps.

you'll need a 14 mm socket to undo the crank bolt and a crankextractor tool to pull the crank of the bb
this is what you need :

From the picture it's a non low profile silver one which is 92 or older.

93 had black arms and was semi low profile.

94 could have silver or black arms was low profile and compact drive (stops to breath!)

The model number FC M*** (sometimes FC MT**)will tell you which model/groupset its from and the manufacture date can them be used to narrow down a precise year if the model was produced for 2 or more years.

Sorry, like a tool I completely missed out the main information from my last post as to my reasoning for it being a '93 set.

Had been looking at the non-drive arm when it was sat on the workstand and it had the letters RC printed on it.

As per the link I posted R = 1993 and C = March

However.... After reading your post, I went back and had another look, it seems the Non Drive side arm must have been replaced at some point as the Drive Side arm says PA making it Jan 1991.

So it's a 1991 with a 1993 non-drive arm. Which makes more sense if the frame really is a 1992.

This is making my head hurt now.

Might just have to replace it with an XT set and be done with it

Wait till you get at the bottom bracket with all it's balls and odd tools needed (Big flat head screwdrivers an hammer work just as well though not as neat)

If the TS21 marking you read as the code, then the none drive side is a pile of poo. It's bottom of the range, Tesco special Tourney from 1995 till sometime modern
At least get the None drive side sorted as it'll be putting your pedal out a long way and probably feel a little odd to use.
and from the picture and the model code you gave it's is low profile and for a shorter bottom bracket than the decent LX drive side you have is.

There is a serial number on the bottom of the bike on the bottom bracket shell, personally I think the bike it not 1992, but earlier, say 89/90 maybe getting in to 91 but don't think so.
