Possible for sale - 1997 dogsbolx

sidetracked

Retro Newbie
I'm giving serious consideration to selling my 1997 dogsbolx to fund a new bike. The frame is 18.5" (c-t) with a 22" (c-c) effective top tube. Its a gorgeous cobalt blue colour and is in reasonable condition. It takes a 1" steerer.

Here it is with the rigid fork in place:

Here it is following a thorough clean and polish. This isn't the fork I'm selling btw, the Marzocchi I'm selling is a newer version with post mounts.

I'd be looking to split it and sell as follows (postage extra - I need to work out what it would be):

Frame, matching P2 triple butted fork and 1" Cane Creek S2 headset - £400
XTR M950 V brakes front and rear with levers - £85
XTR M950 hubs on mavic 517, DT Champion spokes - £50
Marzocchi MX Pro 1" 85mm (2007) - £110

The brakes are in good condition and work perfectly. The pads have life in them. I'll supply them with cables.

The hubs run smoothly and the bearing races were in good condition last time I serviced them. The rear hub has a chip in the plastic baffle on the non drive side. The rims run true enough but are on their last legs - the sidewalls are worn and the spoke tension is out, especially on the front. They're still good enough to ride on but the real value is in the hubs which deserve to be built into new wheels.

The fork is in very good condition. Its the newer style, a 2007 85mm model that I bought in 2008 - black with red graphics. I have the v-brake studs for it but it also has a post mount for disc. You can see it in this photo:

If anyone is interested in these parts please let me know and I'll provide some better photos. I'll need the frame to sell before I can sell the components. I'm in Brighton and happy to for people to view or collect.

Cheers

Now that is a nice looking ride. I must curb my spending, but I would be very interested in the frame and forks (p2s not Maz) as well as the wheels.

Not that this will aid my cause, but if it were mine, I would not sell it.

now thats beautiful if i only had the money,

I agree with Ishaw in that i dont think you have thought it through, to me the only people who take pictures of their bike like you have, in different guises, different conditions locations etc, are people who dearly love their bike and or are members of this site

I think you would miss her if she went and you would become another of the I wish i hadnt sold her crowd, of which there are many many on here

she does look like she still cuts the mustard too, good luck with the sale though

Thanks for your replies ishaw and Charlieboy. I thought long and hard about proposing the sale and I've thought even harder since then. You know what, you're right - I can't do it :D

My head might say it makes sense to sell up and move onto the next bike but my heart says no. Sorry for tempting everyone and many thanks to those who were interested. Thanks as well for the compliments, they helped to rekindle my love.

Cheers
