They have at some point been 'modified' (not very well :-(
) for use with a bar end :
But this would be hidden either by a bar end, or an end cap.
Where the hole is in the box, the grips have discoloured slightly giving one bright side and one dark side (same on both grips). This picture is one face up and one face down to show the difference between the bright and the dark side :
i.e. it's not much and the iPhone camera doesn't really capture it - best to let you know though rather than find out yourself
