Poor heart

Today I have mostly been doing an interview at Rutland cycling , turned up at about 11ish and spent a few hours pretty much milling about the workshop doing a few things while trying not to be a 3rd wheel and get in the other guys way . Been sat here since about 3pm waiting for the phone to ring and to get told either way . Well I just got off the phone to the manager after sitting here with a racing heart thinking " ohh it'll be amazing if I get it and I might cry if not "

The tone of the managers voice wasn't encouraging , I was ready to drop to the floor and have a proper tantrum when he said " I'm prepared to offer you **k a year for a three months trial and well see after that , everyone was happy so I think you'll be fine "

I can get stuff very cheap and I'm pretty sure I can offer a hefty mates rates discount too 8)

When I'm in the shop that I dare speak it's name tomorrow I'll find out how much notice I have to give , I feel kinda sorry as the other guys are going to have to do loads without me and they are all really good people and I'll miss them . Although of the now 5 people who have left 2 of whom will be in the same shop as me

I don't know how I'm going to break the news to the new manager ( guess where the old manager now works  )

From what you were telling me @ the Pines ride this is awesome news, congrats!

It's a tricky thing to do when you know that the staff you're leaving behind are good to work with, but when the company itself is the problem then you have to move on for your own good

When I left my last job I felt the same way, although the company was good to work for the other workers were good to work with too, but the money & travelling made it a no brainer. I was one of the only fully trained machine ops that understood machinery & the others were still pretty fresh & learning. Didn't want to drop em in it, but sometimes you just gotta be a little selfish.

I dropped the bombshell a week before I started at my new job (Found out I'd got it 3 days before the bombshell!), which was exactly the notice required in my contract, anything under 2 years service was 1 week's notice.

I still keep in touch with the lads from the factory & I'm sure you will be keeping in touch with your old work colleagues, you never know they all might jump ship & join ya

Yeah it'll be great , I had met one of the workshop guys before on a group ride and the workshop manager seems a good guy too . It's a lot more organized and I'll not have to answer the phone to people asking for car stuff

I might give the overdraft a bashing and buy the anglia I've been eying up , the twin 40 carbs and 4 speed box might make me poor though , but It'll be tax exempt and could carry a few bikes .

Had a surreal moment today . I was building a Giant and my mate who started there a few weeks ago comes in and says " oh , I just sold that one " . I was in a new place but doing the same thing I had done for the past few months and with the same person

Need to work out where I can put the virtual reality turbo trainer I'm going to buy .

The other half has already mentioned buying a house

Excellent news, really pleased for ya. Had a few dealings with the guys at Rutland and Grafham and found the staff to be very good. Does this mean you will be building up my new road bike I have ordered from them this week? If so, slip a full record groupo on while their backs are turned.

Sadly not , I'd love to go there tomorrow and start but I have to serve my time at the orange and black place :(

I'll be at the Whitwell store so from a few weeks time onwards if anyones nearby and wants anything pop in and ask for me and I'll see what discounts I can give :D

I'm tempted by a giant tcr frameset , the non integrated seatpost one and running it singlespeed .

At the end of the day you've got to do what's best for number one

Good luck with it

great news dude.

make the anglia yours too, then you will be the happiest bunny alive
