Hello all,

Advice needed: Polishing.

I have a Marzocchi fork from 1997/8 that has a polished crown. Its been stored for a couple of years and I plan to use it on a new build. Thing is the crown has tarnished slightly – not corroded just “dulledâ€

I use brasso on the RTS, very effective. I have also had good results in the past with T-Cut car polish.

A buffing wheel and a little car polish.

Im looking for somewhere to polish up a sugino mighty XP chainset, then engrave and black enamel the original logo back in place. If any one has any tips as to where i can get this done to a budget, let me know.

Some p*sstaker @ work suggested baby oil to seal the shine. Imagine my surprise, it actually worked on my rts frame

As above, I used autoglym metal polish & finished with brasso

Certainly works on stainless steel, though doubt it for a long term seal on "outdoor applications" that get crap, mub and water constantly thrown at them.

Another one that works is Pantene conditioner... the Silicone in it seals the air out stopping tarnishing. Mate of mine swears by it for his motorbike...
