Polishing out scratches to aluminium?

I've just bought a Tune seatpost off the bay. It's turned up and has significant zig zag scratches on the bottom half of the seatpost (that will show when fitted).
Is it possible to polish them out and if so, how?
Spanks :)

Hey,
Depends how deep they are....
Genrally what has worked well for me is using wet and dry, working down the grades, then use soapy water with a very ine wet and dry paper, and finish with a brasso, then t- cut....
Hope it goes well.

Silver, but I would have preferred black. It was a bit of an impulse BIN job. I've been looking out for one for a while. It's a lurvely post, just shame about these scratches. Have you had any problems with yours?

Thanks Tomosa will look into that :)

1200 grade wet and dry sand paper for the rough stuff, then brasso/duraglit/autosol for the finish.

not yet, but I never seem to break anything, so not much of a measure. Clamp bars are pretty minimal though..
