Please tell me about little motorbikes

I'd say take your CBT and see how you feel before doing anything else. You'll be surprised at how vunerable you feel on a motorbike even if you're used to riding a bike on the road. If you do your CBT you'll get two years to ride around. If you're not planning to get anything bigger than 125cc its probably not worth if financially to get lessons and do the test. The bike test is however getting harder and harder and with it more expensive to do. I would advise getting a proper jacket, trousers, gloves and helmet. You can lose a lot of flesh before you stop skidding down an road on your backside if you're only wearing a pair of jeans. It doesn't have to cost a fortune to kit yourself out. Lidl's motorbike specials are excellent value for money.
Another vote for scooters from me. Middle aged men suddenly getting motorbikes smacks of deeply repressed sexual urges rearing up and getting repressed again. I've got a Gilera Runner for commuting (although its a 200cc you can get a 125cc for learner legal), you do get a little bit more weather protection and a bit of storage under the seat. For commuting its excellent as its a twist and go just dull as dishwater to ride.

Van Van is like a Surly Pugsley with an engine and thus is well cool plus it looks like a 70's trail bike not a pseudo moto crosser 8)

Yamaha and someone like Hyosung(taiwanese) do something similar

I really like the look of the VanVan but its supposed to be really slow. Wish they'd stick a bigger 350/400cc engine in it. Always think there's a relatively untapped market out there for people wanting a commuter type bike and not needing superbike performance or looks. Keep it within the A1 restricted licence bracket and it should sell.

I was going to say they are ridden by little bastards without crash helmets around my way until I realised that you didn't mean minimotos

I live on a boat. Trust me, I know all about the little feckers riding their stolen mopeds and mini motos up and down the towpath.

I deeply resent that statement. Although it is probably true.

Motorbikes :? Hmmmmmmmm...
Works like this

Get 125-pass test
Buy 400
Buy 650
Buy 800
Buy 1100
All in the space of a year.

Before you know it youre going to the shops at 90mph

 I missed out the 'big powerful' before motorbikes. Just stay away from the leather power ranger stuff...

Not True, pass test then never own anything bigger than a 250 in 14 years and thus incapable of going to shops at 90 unless every component is trying to shake itself loose

Mind you the Dyna-Ti route is attractive but mind numbingly expensive

Have you considered an electric bike? There are several i have been looking at, including the PI BIKE, being built in Sausalito, California, about 10 miles from my home. These bikes will go 20-30 MPH (depending which model) for 30-40 miles, and recharge from a wall outlet in about 4 hours. They cost about $3000.00 over here. The other one I like is the Optibike, made to spec in Colorado--BUT WAY PRICY--$12,000.00! It's advantage is it can go offroad too!

sorry to hi-jack ,but is the red one a PI BIKE ?

looks well cool

buy the biggest fastest thing you can afford

would be my advice

before they ban them all
