you also cannot be convicted of speeding whilst riding a bike. you can however be charged with "cycling furiously"

What a coup that would be! Imagine the kudos from telling all your mates: "I've just been charged with 'cycling furiously'!"

Now all I have to do is find a steep hill with a 30mph limit and wait for the fuzz!

So here's something i've never been sure of... If you hold a driving license but get caught riding a bike pissed, can they take your license?

thats a good question, i'll check. a courier friend of mine in london 3yrs ago jumped a set of lights & he had a fine, as he didnt have a car license to put points on (IE they wanted to put points on a license!)

Yep, i got stopped in my mis-placed youth for caning it down the cycle path on the local beach promenade (wind behind me!!) and was cautioned for, you got it - "cycling furiously"... Also, a friend of mine was stopped and cautioned (and got a small fine) for wheelieing down the road too.. Can't remember what his charge was..

Apart from that and skip hunting, i got me a clean nose!

Friend of mine got pulled for slip streaming an articulated lorry at 40mph on a local A road, he was only about a meter from the back though  was told by the coppers they didn't like scraping cyclists off the road.

I love doing that - gives you a real buzz on the commute to work! Always tricky when the brake lights are in the periphery of your vision

I once got flashed by a speed camera coming down the Avenue in Southampton on a fairing equipped recumbent at loony speed.

I'd have loved to see the look on the operators face, "Erm, boss, it's a, erm, well, I'm not sure!
