Plastikote Enamel

Whilst browsing through my local Halfords I noticed they had quite a range of Plastikote cans, I was quite interested in the Gloss Black and Matt Grey as they looked (from their caps) identical to the 1992 BVSE OEM paint.

What are peoples thoughts on these? Is it quality paint, or will it start peeling a few months down the road?

I've not used Plastikote on a bike frame but used it on some car parts (air filter housings etc) and it's been fine, spray quality from the can is ok, providing you prep the surface properly and use the Plastikote primer it should be fine

Thanks! Might be an option instead of powercoating.

Although I am tempted by a pure Appliance White respray......decisions, decisions!

Its rubbish - looks good for about a week, chips easily, reacts with other paints and is poor value per can. Cans run out way quicker than other stuff.

Halfruads standard black gloss is way better but Motorworld's paint is cheaper.

I used it on my bulleyes, they chipped easily and rubbed off - wouldn't recommend it, even with the correct primer (which I used). I'm now waiting to do a repaint.

yeah i had reactions with plastikote aswell, if you still want to use it though i saw an offer in 'wilkinsons' (if you have one near you) 2 big cans for a fiver, which i guess aint bad if you like orange peel
