Pivot Bolt question

The bit in the centre is the circlip (arrow in the pic below). Be careful when removing it as the whole assembly is under tension and will fly apart if you don't hold it together.

When you're putting it back together the easiest way is to remove the B-tension screw (the one that sits against the tab on the frame) and use that part to grip with a pair of pliers as you turn it to tension the spring.

So I'm not going mad...There is no circlip is there?
Tap out ????, I can't budge the F****r, should what you can see just come off now? Is it just pressure from the spring that's holding it all in...like the wifes big knickers??
If the circlip is missing, where can I get hold of one, are they all the same. I've sourced a bolt from someone, but I'm fairly sure there's no circlip coming.
I've only been registered a day and I bet you're all sick of me. I promise I won't myther forever....honest!!

Scrap my last post (except the mythering bit)...there is circlip then. I thought that was part of the bolt.

Just looked again, the black bit in the middle is deffo part of the bolt, I deffo can't see a circlip...or am I really going mad.

i can just make out the clip.looks battered to crap too.a small screwdriver should be able to lever that out.. .should be a notch in the clip somewhere to push the blade in to do the levering.

Have a butchers at these, The black central circle is part of the bolt, the only other ring is the one the screw's fixed to.

Yes you're going mad, but being at this sell only sned you further towards total madness.

If the circlip is not there hammer it out, and hit it hard.
But first bath it in WD40, you may want to get a mole wrench and twist what is left to aid in breaking what seal has been made.

Circlips of the same era are the same.

I'll just add, you may want to wedge a screwdriver under the tension bolt large metal plate holder and pry it off. may need a bit of working.

1) is the bit your may need to pry off.
2) is the circlip you don't seem to have so need a new one.
3) is where you've snapped the bolt.


All I would say is if this is the original stell bolt that quite a force to snap it, is your frame ok and you may have bent the mech somwhat somewhere (maybe in the barrel where the bolt sits)
