Picked this up recently on eBay (minus stem, bars + levers). Bit of an odd one - can anyone to provide any clarification on age/identity?
It's got a braze-on for a race number, so it seems safe to presume it was a race bike or at least a custom build. The paint job/frame combination is odd - paint job is similar to a Stelvio I've seen from 1997, but the frame is a lot like a late 80s or early 90s Montello. It's not a Montello, though, because it's got a bridge between the chain stays, and also doesn't have any of the usual "GP" frame markings - doesn't even say Pinarello on the bottom bracket. The badge is also pretty odd - maybe had a respray at some point, as it's hard to imagine that's the original badge? There's no doubt it's an SL frame, though.
Fairly sure the Dura-Ace bits including the 7402 rear mech are original, so that puts the bike within the 1989 - 1996 period. I think they stopped using SL tubing in the mid 90s?
Any thoughts welcome...and yeah the saddle really should be a Maxflite, but I couldn't resist a Turbo...
