Dear All,

I know there are some stereo heads on this site and I was wonderin if you could help me.

I have an Onkyo amp paired up to a pair of Bose Model 214 speakers, I've had them since about 1996 and they are one of my best/favourite things.

The other day I was adding a DVD player to my system and when I pressed play I guess the output of the player was already quite loud as it seems to have blown my speaker.

The speaker now sounds poor and has lots of rustling. Is it blown?

How can I get it fixed? I cannot find any Bose information on these speakers and fear they are to far out of date for any spares.

Can I get this fixed properly as all fixes on the web I've read involve duct tape...

I am happy to pay if someone can direct me to this service as I am gutted to have wrecked the speakers after 14 years as I normally baby them.

Thank you.

£75 to be fixed from Bose, who think it is a model 201 as opposed to 214....I must have been half asleep this morning.

That includes all postage, pretty cool.

Thank you but that is a series five. I believe mine maybe Series 2 from researching what models look like. These look pretty much like mine;

Anyone had a speaker re-coned or serviced by the manufacturer? How did it turn out?

Hahaha, as if, I only have these as they came from a second hand shop on a barge run by a tramp.....long story.

I knew they were model 214 Bose.

So does that mean they are 201 series 4?

Because Bose didn't know what a Model 214 are....

If these are they, they look like 6" or 6 1/2" drivers that are easily replaceable.

Spot on. I couldn't find any information on my google search, can't believe you found them.

I also got mine when I lived in Japan, do you know more about them? Perhaps they are a Japan only model?

If the drivers (I assume this means the actual speaker?) are just standard items, should I replace them completely or still re-cone?

Sorry I don't know the proper terminology and thanks for all the help.
