Peugeot PH501 Ventoux

Retro Newbie
I was after a steel classic road bike and so recently purchased this from eBay as it was in very nice condition as it had barely been used and was near to where I live.

It had been upgraded from stock with a Campagnolo Triomphe groupset - I think perhaps the bare frame had been purchased.

I paid £255, but I had totted up the value of the parts on it and it was a fair bit more than that. It really is in a like new condition with the exception of the spokes that have surface rust.

Apparently it was built for a specific event and then kept in storage since. I will have to give the seller a ring to ask him more about the event and when exactly it was built. Seems a bit strange to build a bike only using a 501 frame.

Plan is to give it a service, replace the bar tape and then ride it.

Re:

i was wondering about this g set and good to see a full one.
red b lever hoods cabling different.saddle is well sort after.

Nice bike, a lot of people do favour the 501 frames very under-rated. I'm currently building a bike around a 501 frame and have a Pug Triathlon which is also 501 all be it 501 forks to but it rides fantastically.

Re:

I will keep an eye out for some 501 forks - looking on eBay completed listings it seems they come up fairly regularly.

Have ordered some new brake block inserts (the current ones have gone brittle) and some Cinelli cork bar tape in red
