Hi,

Photos now taken

The weather improved so I managed to clean it up a bit and take some pics. It's in better condition than I thought at first so I don't think I'm going to do anything to this other than clean it up and perhaps try to match some touch-up paint in pink. I even quite like the tape on the bar ends

Has anyone got a good source of info on Peugeot MTBs? I believe that some of the top riders rode them in competition in the early nineties. Most of their literature I've seen on the web is about their road bikes.

My only knowledge of them is the cheap modern bikes, but I've just picked up a 93(?) Peugeot Python on ebay on a hunch that it looked a decent bike. I'm happy  . It's French made, 531 butted tubes, got reasonable quality components, looks good, and it rides well for something that's been at the back of someone's shed for years, but obviously needs a lot of TLC. Will post pics once I get the muck and cobwebs off it.

Anyway the French have been into mountain biking at least as long as the UK & USA but I rarely recall seeing much about their bikes. Any info would be welcome (inc. any French websites that may be useful)

No help on the history though :(

Mine came with Deore LX, 3TTT, 531 bars so maybe early 90's :?

Very similar, down to the 3TTT stem and Mavic Oxygen M6 rims, except the Python is dark blue and pink - a nice Barbie shade of pink - just like these emoticons

There's obviously a theme on the names at that time!

Peugeot had a big racing team in 1992 with Look and Campagnolo .

but the frames were not Peugeot made .

they also had a model similar to the Reflex .

My brother had a Gitane in the the '80's which was cool and I've never seen another. It had shimano SIS with thumbies and was the first MTB I saw. Has anyone got one, it would be great to see a photo for old times sake. :)

Awesome

I saw that bike and considered bidding but it was in South Wales wasn't it?

Stunning bargain at £16!

I have one of these:

That very one in fact!

Note I also have a funky shell suit paint job

I was watching a Black Mamba that had Mountain LX gear so that would date it at 1989. Really wanted a Lazer 15 way back when.

Didn't Tim Gould ride for them bitd? Think MBK were French as well and knocked out a few reasonable bikes.
