My laptop has somehow just installed something I cant get rid of.
Its called Desktop Security 2010 and it is constantly running in the system tray.
I have run Malwarebytes and that hasnt got rid of it, can anyone help?

Have you tried running AdAware from LavaSoft? It's a free download and it's kept my laptop clean for the last 5 years, so it might be worth a try.

And have you tried un-installing the program? I know that seems like an obvious question but it has to be asked!

And the only other thing I can think of is ... can you use a restore point back to before you had the program installed?

I hope I might have helped!! Good luck!! Lx

Just googled it and apparently its very hard to remove and might have to be done manually

Going to try updating malwarebytes and running it on thorough scan :(

These seem to be the easiest manual removal instructions.

There's no end of these malware/adware/twatware progs lately I've taken care of a few for friends.

If you get stuck, give me a shout and I could remote control via MSN messenger if the broadband is fast enough. Remote Access via MSN isn't the most reliable thing.

I shifted one of these for someone recently by booting to safe mode and ditching the registry entry which was running it, it was a right pain otherwise and wouldn't allow access to any aspect of the PC, would kill command prompt windows as soon as they were opened, couldn't get access to Task Manager or even the desktop. Once it was prevented from starting, Malwarebytes did the rest.

Agree on the roll back that will sort it.... start, programs, accs, system tools, system restore etc..... I always punt mine back a day or two if dodgy software starts up!
