Paypal Refund?

Quick answer, if anyone knows while I search.

I received items that were late, I already opened a case for that.

Turns out a small item is missing that will cost me £10 odds to source.

I asked the seller to refund that part.

She agrees, but asked me to close my case first so she can pay me from the paypal payment I made which is on hold.

I reckon she should just pay me before I close the case.

She is claiming she cannot do that until the case is closed.

Never been in that situation but I would see no reason held funds would stop her making a payment.

I think depending on seller, you may have something of a catch-22. I wouldn't want to close the case, either, up front.

I suspect, though, (never sold anything on t'ebay, though) that for a disputed transaction, ebay / paypal are probably controlling / holding the paypal payment, in case it all needs refunding.

Excellent, cheers.

This was my feeling as well, I tried to change the nature of the dispute but no luck.

Will leave it open until it is all sorted.

They already told me the funds are on hold at their end, but that is hardly my problem!

They took £15 for Special Delivery next day, and then used a service called Collect+ for a fiver, took two weeks to arrive! I was not going to bother about the £10, but then found a missing item which made the goods unusable so on principal I will hold out for that.

Makes me smile really, they asked why the 'hell' I had taken out a dispute, after screwing me on the delivery schedule and charges.

:)

They won't be able to provide any kind of refund whilst the auction is in dispute thanks to how aggressive Ebay/Paypal are in these situations and I'm sure they're not keen to make a Paypal 'refund' that isn't tied to the auction as they have no protection. Bear in mind that they will have had the whole auction value removed from their Paypal account until the dispute is resolved.

All you can do in reality is capture as much of the agreement in the text of the complaint and wait for it to expire and for ebay to make a judgement.

At the end of the day, it's a lot of hassle for a tenner, despite the primciple. It feels like you have to either reject the item and look for a refund or trust that the seller will refund you and close the case.

Or wait for ebay to decide.

i have had an item in dispute and ebay froze my pp account. reached an agreement with the buyer for a partial refund. the dispute is closed when the seller selects the right box that both parties agree to the partial refund. i am not very good at explaining stuff but basically the refund is done as part of the dispute process

i had an arsehole from radcliffe buy my £280 paul smith jacket without reading the sizing, when it arrived he messaged me telling me it didnt fit and he wanted a full refund, then he would send the jacket back. i told him to bounce so he contacted paypal claiming it was a fake. paypal bless their cotten socks have decided to hold my money for the past 2months even when i have showed them copies of the original reciept from a paul smith outlet........mind boggling.
