paypal gift

is it just me or has paypal started charging you for the privilige of using the 'gift' service? I have my bank account verified and registered on there yet when I went to send some money earlier I was stuck with a fee, whats that about? anyone know?

I think if they see a repeated pattern of gift payments they start to examine the details. Don't add comments like the delivery address or details of the transaction; 'Here is payment for the XYZ, please send it to ...'

Did the 'sent' money come from your paypal balance? If so, I don't think you should have been charged.
If the money was sent from your bank account via paypal, then you will charged.

As usual with paypal it's not always that simple, mine is linked with my debit card so funds are taken directly out of the bank, and I have never been charged. I think the other ways (DD? Credit Card?) you will be charged unless there are funds sitting in paypal.

i always do that
and i always have fees on gift
form my debit card account
only once in a blue moon from paypal balance (-money is taken that is)

I'm the same, linked to card, account verified and everything. I think it has something to do with the recipients set-up (just a guess).

Gift will charge the sender a fee if you are sending funds from your bank account or card.

If you are sending funds from your paypal account there is no charge.

It's free when you use your PayPal balance or your bank account linked to your PayPal account. There is a charge of 3.4% + £0.20 GBP for debit or credit card payments

i always thought it was a bit steep :? no wonder theyve seen a rise in profits this quarter :evil:


my bank account one normally thinks itself as an e cheque
so i always go from card
and that shows straight away
if from account it takes a few days to show!
