Paul Thumbies (ebay.com) good price?

Better read that auction carefully. You are not getting the thumb shifters, just the mount. There are other much cheaper options.

There are also the Forge mounts:

They don't come up often, but somebody on here might have some they're willing to sell. Probably cheaper than the Paul's mounts.

IMO, the modern Shimano bar-con shifter that you need to use on the Paul's (and Forge) clamps are rough as hell, compared with old Deore/ XT thumbies or old Suntor XC. Just saying - if you're expecting the Dura Aces to function smoothly & to be robust... forget it.

Disagree.

I think they work beautifully.

Very nice, crisp and smooth changes.

I can't offer feedback as to robustness & longevity, but the action is very nice imo...

yeah i knew they dont have the shiters, but pauls usually got for nearer 50 with the shifters so if you didnt need them might be a good buy.
i use those forge ones myself with ultegra 8s shifters. ive had no complaints about the shifters, nice and positive action, much prefer to dx thummies.

Maybe it's me, then?
I have Deore, XT; and the Dura Ace on Forge mounts; but the Suntours were the nicest of all IMO.
