Paul Mechs: Where can they be used...

I use similar Proshift rear mechs and have had no shifting worries with 8spd/ shimano sti.

if you can get a Proshift front mech, these come with frame shims and are ready set up for top or bottom pull.

Another question is whether you really would use £400 of front and rear mech on a daily rider?

I have a Paul front mech ready for my Merlin when it arrives, but seeing what these have been fetching at auction I really don't think I could bring myself to use it for real. Crazy really.

I`m going to stick my neck out here. I have one lying in a drawer wrapped up in a cloth. Its a rasta one and it`s in perfect nick. I had it on my Yo Eddy and here goes *gulp* it worked fine.
Didn`t have any shifting issues at all. BUT that was on a 7 speed cassette then an 8 for a little while and STX RC rapidfires so it wasn`t as smooth as todays stuff anyway.
I never had any shifting problems if i`m honest and it got more attention than the rest of the bike.

I ran my Proshift on 8 spd with bar-end shifters for about 3 years commuting with no hassles. Then ran them with LX 9spd for 2 years without ever having to adjust them anymore than a shimano mech.

I dont see how these mechs mysteriously unadjust themselves unless the cable wasnt pre-stretched or the cable wasnt clamped tight enough....?

hmmmm....
