Panasonic MC 4500 (The Pink One) - '89

Victor1977

Dirt Disciple
I found this heavy pink tank a while back. Recently I cleaned it up and changed the brake cables. Handlebar has some marks but the rest is looking ok. I have put a temporary saddle on it (came without one). Tires need to be changed as they look very old and dry. Today I gave it to my 70 year old dad and together we made a small trip. He was happy with it.

I believe most parts are probably original. It has got Mountain LX derailleurs, shimano 7 sis speed shifters. Rims are Araya on shimano m451 hubs, brakes are shimano cantilever (u-brake in back), saddle post is Laprade and the crankset is a Shimano biopace version.

I think it's a '89 production but not 100% sure.

Things left to do:

change shifting cables
change tires
change saddle
(might change or repaint handlebar too)

Re:

Liking that. Panasonics are quality. I'd treat it to a Nitto stem bar and post, a Turbo and then ride it pinkly.

Thanks! I am looking for a saddle and a Turbo might indeed be the one.
Tires are next because actual ones are tricky and dried out.
Stem, bar and post will eventually come later but I like your advise.

I have had the same. I used it one year before it went to the mountainbike museum in Arnhem. It is still like new.

Re:

Nice looking machine, mine's a 4500 as well but not sure what year it is?

Hi all, sorry to resurrect an old thread... Greetings from Munich!

Here is one I found in a pile of scrap metal outside of my apartment and rebuilt with things I had in the cellar (except consumables and Garbaruk narrow wide chainring).

She's not original, but cleaned up well.
