If you're bothered about the look - don't do it either....

You'll just get it pointed out every time you air it.

Don't do either? Do you mean no to the Dart on the front and rear and no to the smoke dart combo?

doug!......listen!.......stuff what everyone else says!......in these parts its AAAALLLL about the look!.......let your children go hungry, and limp to school in worn out plimsoles.......the right nos smoke is out there somewhere...... :P

You can add zero braking traction to zero cornering grip as well, have done this once out of necessity and it was hopeless, nigh on impossible to pull up without a massive lockup.

OT now are there any online sellers who still have the amber wall reissue Smoke/Darts?

If you mount the rear dart the opposite way round to the front, you'll get better braking and probably better traction on climbs. The reissue actually has decent soft modern rubber, so should be fine.

 Really not had that kind of trouble at all, they're no worse than most of the other retro rubber.

The one and only time I tried it I was in a race situation. I suspect for casual trail riding it would be no big deal, but if you're in press on mode, its not a patch on a Smoke as a rear tyre.

Oi, there's nothing 'casual' about my trail riding! :P

I am using a Dart 2.2 sc up front and 1.9 smoke lite on the rear and they work brilliantly together, the darts perfect for throwing into a mucky situation and it guides you through with the smoke even a worn out one like mine finding magical grip from no where.
I agree thet the reissues look like reissues and the dart is better the fatter it is but as a tyre it performs well I was lucky enough to get my dart new from my local bike shop reduced bin for a fiver in October
