Like these need any introduction… I bought these quite recently as part of the grieving process for a bike of mine that got stolen about 8 years ago with a pair of these on. (Ironically the tyres are probably what made it so attractive.) Having had these fitted now for the month or so, I can happily say that I've found closure and I'm ready to go back to black :) They're too nice a set of tyres for me to justify hoarding – so these are for sale, now that I’ve just got hold of a set of old worn ones to keep in the garage, just in case I get the urge for butterscotch in future…

I bought this pair a couple of months back. They were described by the seller as 'NOS' but I wouldn't have quite described them as such - although they clearly hadn't been ridden at all at the time, it was clear to me that spending their life being folded up unused for many years had taken some toll on them, as follows:

  • There is some slight kinking in the bead, which means that when mounted they don't spin quite perfectly round (i.e. when the wheel spins it looks like the wheel is a little bit out of true, which is of course due to slight mis-shaping of the tyre). This only has a minimal effect on use though.

The rubber itself has gone quite hard and dry in places, and this has had the effect that the butterscotch colour is not entirely even.

As a consequence of this there are also a couple of places where the interface between the casing and the rubber isn't quite perfect.
So these would be most ideally suited to your occasional retro ride - personally I wouldn't rely on them on my everyday bike, but they're certainly usable - I wanted to make sure that they were usable so I fitted them and pumped them up, and they have been fine in the garage for the past couple of months. I've ridden them once - a grand total of 8-9 miles on tarmac in the dry with no problem other than the shape issue mentioned.

I'll cut to the chase: £65 posted. Now reduced to £55 posted!
