Painted RaceFace Next cranks - nitromors ok?

I have a pair of RF Next cranks that I bought a while ago and would like to get them into a build sometime soon. They were originally the seller's brother's and he'd painted them black. Naturally the paint has started chipping and I'd like to restore the original silver finish.

What's the best way to do this - would Nitromors or any other paint stripper affect the carbon sections? I think the 'carbon' on the outer face of each arm is just a stick-on patch but I'd rather keep them there and in good condition. I've had a quick go with wire wool and wet'n'dry sandpaper and they'd both work ok but it'd be a looooong job!

Cheers, Gareth.

i've been through the same thing with the same cranks. I masked off both the carbon sections, used nitromors & rinsed heavily when the paint was off.

Please be careful, paint strippers etc WILL affect the carbon, and this is not a glued on parch but a structural part of the Next LP cranks.

The outermost transparent layer is for cosmetics though, so mask it properly to protect and go for it. And don't forget to protect the carbon surface on the inside of the cranks too.

EnjoY!!
