So me and my bike mates have biked our first weekender

But what else should I take other then normal ride stuff? I have tubes, few light tools, gt85 spray, hydration pack? What would other people recommend to take? It's a South Wales trip in April?

Cheers guys

- A foldable outer tyre, just in case someone hits a rock and gets a proper cut or tear in his tyre. (like this, for instance). Doesn't have to be heavy or high-end, just something that'll get you home.
- A chain tool and/or one or two SRAM powerlinks perhaps, in case someone breaks a chain and you need to bodge something up.
- It's also always handy to carry an extra brake and gear cable (assuming at least one member in your group doesn't have hydraulic brakes yet).
- Duct tape. If you crack a carbon frame, some sticks and duct tape could be enough to let you ride home carefully. Also good if you damage the saddle. I've even used it to keep shifter pods together.

Maybe a compass and a few MREs, just in case you get lost? You mention Wales, so I assume a smartphone with Google Maps won't help much due to the lack of coverage (or even electricity) there.

Where you off to in South Wales? Is it trail centres or more XC orientated?

If trail centres I wouldn't panic too much about remembering everything, places like Afan & Glyncorrwg have very good reasonable shops on site with full workshops that will get you out the shit if the worst happens and you need something more than a new inner tube or chain link.
