hmm, now im confusled! im pretty sure mines never had the alu plate bit - the headset top cap and bolt to the SFN just goes under the crown if i remember rightly - the top cap plugs the whole to stop the poo? mine doesnt have the threaded bit sticking out of the bottom either - am i being daft here, or were there 2 different systems? mine came with rc36 pro-class

Yours is a far newer version, those yellow ones were original RC100/RC30 ones (pre aheadset and pre bike use of star fangled nuts!) I'd assume that causes the difference as I reckon the extra welding to get the threaded bit on to the bottom of the originals was a pain in the arse!

Mine's the same as rc300's on my RC200 F1...

Thanks for all the help chaps,hopefully ive got enough info to get one made,going to source some stainless tubing now,ill keep you all informed of the progress inc. prices etc for anyone wanting one made.
