PACE RC 36 forks, which HOPE headset?

As it says really,
I have a set of Pace RC36 andI bought a Hope headset but the bottom cup is too large a diameter for the steerer tube. The top one is fine.
I verniered the steerer and it is the same diameter top to bottom.
I contacted Hope and they replied very quicky that most steerers are tapered and to try an LBS (or send photo's) which was very nice of them
I have also contacted Pace but as yet I haven't received a reply.

Anyone else had experience of this?
Should I have a shim or something on the steerer tube OR do I need a special sort of Hope headset

Sounds like the collar the crown race should sit on is missing. You can order them from Pace.
