Question - Why are Pace forks so popular with members of this site??

Everyone seems to have a set or two (including me - both my bikes :D ) so what is it about them that makes them so great? Right-first-time engineering design? Weight? That almost 'custom-built' feeling? Small British company taking on the behemoths of the cycling world? Or all of that and more?

Discuss.

i think you might have a point there ;) Uk forum -> Uk Brand 8)

Scant will soon be along to dis them

I think they are cool, especially the first generation Reynolds versions. They are plain and simple, no frills, strong and in my opinion, among the best oldschool rigid forks available.

I own 2 pairs of RC30's and a pair of RC36 Pro Class (TiNi) :)

All of the above reasons,

I currently have (or have on the way to me)

RC30 (reynolds 531,Magura mounts, currently on my RC100)
RC35 (original tubular brace versions, originally purchased with the RC100 as a fork leg upgrade-used the same crown as the RC30's)
RC35 AB (my first ever set- been on my marin since 1994)
RC35 MXCD (arrived recently, seem good)
RC36 pro class ti-ni coated (my second set, purchased to go on the RC200)
RC36 pro class Eddie Irvine (anodised red alu parts- purchased off the bay just because!)
RC36 hollow form (no where near as nice as the older forks)

Ive previously owned and now sold:
RC36 proclass ti-ni
RC36

I like pace forks, as a Yorkshireman, I have to!

I think its a romantic David v Goliath plus made in Britain thing.

They look better then any other fork in my opinion and when they got it right, they were better than any of the competition.

The RC36 and Proclass were probably the best suspension fork they ever made, quality control issues plagued the later forks and I was never convinced by the durability of the RC35's but they all look just so 'right'.

Still love them to bits despite everything. 8)

i have just finished refurbing my flouro RC30's and very tasty they look too!

Has anyone tried RC40 XCAM or XCFR on a modern bike?? Thinking of swapping the Marzocchi AM2's on my On-One to save a few grams.
