pace forks fitting

ok then, this morning i recieved a lovely set of rc 36 evos in the post. (thanks ed) i have tried to fit them to my gt and i have a problem. the forks have a 1/18 steerer and i am putting them in place of some old rockshox using the existing wtb headset. the bearing race on the bottom of the headset had to be removed from the old rs fork but when i tried to fit it to the pace forks it looks about 1/16 of an inch too big, so when you fit the fork to the bike it will be like its loose, if anyone knows what i mean!
what can i do to solve this, the forks are coming off again for some work but i need your help!! :?

this is the old rockshox fork which i have took off and highlighted is the recess where the bearing race was.

no i think i explained it wrong. what i meant to say was it looks about a 16th of an inch too big for the forks.

You need a pace race collar. its basicly a small shim that pads out the steerer to fit a headset race.

I think Pace still sell them, failing that i had a shim manufactured to fit my FSA orbit lower race

I had mine made by a chap in our machine shop at work. But im sure pace still do em.

failing that try Justbackdated on these forums.
