do you have an aloe vera plant in the house.if yes the snap astalk open and squeeze the goo onto the burns area....this always is a good natural remedy that works.

Or you could drink a skin full and walk up and down the street shouting Aloe Vera, either way you won't feel it tonight . . .

I grow bonsai trees, unfortunately none of them are aloe vera, I think if they were I'd have to butcher a whole forest of the things to get enough out of them.

Thanks for all the tips folks, ice, asprin, beer and sudocreme in that order seem to have done the trick. (Clingfilm standing by).

Off to A&E for you,but if you think it aint too bad ,put the hand in a basin of cold water for at least 20 mins

Years ago i worked as a breakfast chef in a local hotel, the large fry pans i used for doing the eggs ,sat completely on the hob and were red hot half full of oil
As per usual, the guy delivering the veg, turns up at 6:30am,but this time asks me if he can have a roll on bacon.Sure i say ,give me a min an ill cook some for you, dont bother he says and before i can warn him, grabs the pan handle
This pan had been on the stove for 2 hours and he found out the hard way how hot these things get.
Poor chap lets out a ear-piercing scream ,jumps and basically throws the pan[half full of hot oil]into the air, spilling the oil all over the lit stove.

Half the kitchen is now alight and veg guy doesnt know where the cold tap is, so seeing water in the bain-marie plunges his hand into it.
I thought he was going to pass out
Great morning that one ,the veg guy needed an ambulance, the fire brigade was called thus evacuating the hotel at 6:45am and nobody got any breakfast [except me  ]

you also need to keep your hand raised above your heart level as this decreases bloodpressure to the area reduces swelling and cuts down on the pain too.......dont use ice as this will burn as well if in direct contact for long periods ......cold water is the best method for that so sit in front of the sink with ya hand in the cold water and watch for blistering.2nd degree burns can get infected so watch out for them ..ps ....go get the burn checked in the morning just to be sure if the pain hasnt subsided enough by then.

I've seen chef's with bad burns sit with their burnt hand in a basin of milk
No idea if its an old wives tale or if it actually promotes healing.
any1 else heard of this?
